UPDATED 8.30.04
Well, the cold front is currently stretched over New Jersey and Pennsylvania, which has caused precipitation this evening, while allowing only a small amount of migration over our area and to our north. Again, this is not the case to our west, where migration down the entire central flyway (and some of the Southeast) is going strong tonight. Although currently out of the east, the winds are scheduled to switch out of the North tonight. What this means for migration tonight is still uncertain, but the radar tomorrow morning should give a better idea. I’ll try and post an update by 7am tomorrow, but incase you’re headed out early check with the real-time site for the current radar.
From 8.26.04:
This is just a little heads-up that there’s a cold front approaching and expected to pass through Monday night. Being that it’s only Thursday, you should treat this news with some skepticism, as weather is not very predictable four days into the future. South winds are expected to increase through the weekend which could shut down migration out of the Northeast and allow for some build-up of birds before the front passes. Assuming this forecast holds and the front passes early Monday night, we could see our next big migrant push on Tuesday morning. I’ll update the forecast as it changes between now and then.
