Not much to say for New Jersey this morning, as most of the large movements last night began to our west and moved south of us early in the night. Here’s the radar for NJ:
You can see the frontal boundary move offshore through the early morning, but I think it all happened a little too late for points north as can be seen by the very little migration both leaving and arriving. A look at the bigger picture showed many birds leaving Buffalo, NY, central PA and the DC area, and what is likely a major fallout along the coast of North Carolina this morning. Northwest winds will build in over our area today, and make for a good migration night tonight. Like we’ve seen in the past big nights this Fall, clear skies will mean no localized concentrations of birds, except maybe along the coast at the regular migrant traps.
Suggested birding: Hit Chimney Rock or your local favorite hawkwatch site today, and your favorite migrant trap tomorrow morning.
Cheers
