Just a trickle of birds moving over our area last night. After viewing the velocity plots I think most of what is present on the radar is not birds. The movement was SW at speeds close to the prevailing winds, so it could be another type of biological data (some suggested Green Darner migration). Anomalous propagation probably had some influence, given that the signal dissipates just after midnight.
Northwesterly flow will continue today and should produce good conditions for diurnal raptor migration.
The new forecast for the week removes the Thursday cold front, and has the weekend cold front passing over our area Saturday – Saturday night, making Sunday the next big day for a push of migrants.
