A decent flight last night, with strong movement off the coast just after sunset. My ftp site is giving me trouble so I don’t have the radar posted. I’ll try and get the data up sometime tomorrow. Tonight another front will pass over our area with winds from the west turning northwest after midnight. Like the last one, this front may not clear the NE in time to allow migration tonight. We’ll have to watch the radar and see.

Bummer
We’re currently in the shadow of the cold front. It doesn’t look like it’ll clear in time to allow birds from our north to enter our area. Hopefully the strong westerly winds will push some of the stuff leaving western New York our way, but it won’t be big. Tomorrow should be good for raptors at Chimney Rock and elsewhere. Look for a good push of migrants Tuesday night and new arrivals Wednesday morning.
David, As I suspected when I woke this morning and saw fog everywhere, there were songbirds everywhere this morning (Monday 10/4)! The fog throughout the area I guess pushed the birds down and we had birds everywhere! including 11 species of warblers and literally hundreds of kinglets, creepers, YR’s etc… Highlights included Vesper Sparrow, purple finch, and dozens upon dozens of Blk Thrted Greens and Blues and BH Vireos. Great Morning and day! – Chris Aquila, Supervisor of Natural Resources and Research, Duke Farms Foundation.
