So here are the radar and velocity from last night :
The radar shows the front pushing through our area from NW to SE. Following the front birds are seen entering the radar and continuing in southbound migration until sunrise. The velocity image helps visualize the direction and speed of migration. By the looks of it the Higbee’s Beach morning flight should have had a moderate amount of activity.
Now for tonight :
Since the front has cleared, the Northeast is now open for business. Here’s the radar and velocity from sunset tonight until 11pm:
Tonight’s radar shows good density of birds over our area, while the velocity shows most of this signal is indeed birds moving south (winds are light and variable here in New Brunswick, while the movement in the velocity plot is >15kts due south).
