Birds on the move

Here’s the radar from sunset tonight through 11:00pm.

Birds are definitely on the move! The radar from Jacksonville, Florida all the way up the eastern seaboard to New Jersey are showing some level of migration this evening, with very strong signals in the Carolinas and Georgia, so we may see some productive influx come morning. No precipitation is forecast, so my recommendation is an inland site such as Garret Mountain.
If you can’t make it out tomorrow morning, don’t fret, the next two nights should bring heavy movements to our area as the winds will be more cooperative over the entire eastern flyway.

I’ll be out first thing in the morning, so this will be the final radar update until tomorrow night. Good birding!

  1. Garret Mountain was very active today, with large flocks of Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Palm, Pine and Yellow-rumped Warblers; numerous Winter Wrens and White-throated Sparrows; and a smattering of early migrants including Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, two Blue-headed Vireos, Prairie and Parula Warbler and an early NASHVILLE WARBLER.
