Last night marks the third successive night of heavy migration. Yippee!
Here are the radar loops from sunset last night through sunrise this morning. It looks like the wind switched around to the NE over the course of last night, and the trajectory of birds migrating appears to follow along. I suspect Higbees will not be seeing as good a flight as the past two days, with the bay shore being a better choice at first light. I would also expect Chimney Rock to see some raptors today, as well as a good share of passerines working their way down the ridge. Chris, are you reading this??
Birds are still up high at 6:30am, as seen in the last frame of the radar. Now it’s time to go outside and ‘ground truth’.
Good Birding 🙂
