Thanks to Dr. Robert DeCandido, a research associate scientist at the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, for offering this graph of his most recent data from his Empire State Building migration study. You can view a full-sized version of the graph by clicking on the thumbnail. I have highlighted the count corresponding to my radar post this morning. Dr. DeCandido’s dates correspond to the date of his count from sunset through around midnight. Therefore, a count from sunset on October 18th through just after midnight on the morning of the 19th, would correspond to the values listed for October 18th. Conversely, my posting dates correspond to the date of sunrise for that given migration event, such that under the same circumstances as stated above, my post would be listed as October 19th. Confused? I hope not! 🙂
