The north wind doth blow,
And we shall have snow,
And what will the robin do then,
Poor thing?
He’ll sit in a barn,
To keep himself warm,
And hide his head under his wing,
Poor thing.

The forecast is calling for north winds through the weekend, so it looks like we’ll have to wait until next week for any chance of incoming migrants. That shouldn’t deter you from birding, though, because even with this lack of influx we’ve still got plenty of birds hanging around. The woodcocks were going again this evening, even despite the cold temperature and chilly wind. I counted three behind my house and Joel Penkala had eight in some overgrown fields just north of canal rd., in Franklin Twp.
