Birds are on the move! Although the upper-air winds (850mb) on the East Coast tonight are still strong out of the north, the mid-level to surface winds from Savannah, GA, to Wilmington, DE show a southerly component that appears to be stimulating some migration. Although it’s too soon to tell how extensive this event will become, it’s reasonable to suspect an influx of new birds in the morning. I’ll post the radar early in the AM, but I think Cape May will be a good bet tomorrow. With the southerly winds forecast for tomorrow night as well, I think Wednesday morning will also be worth wandering around your local migration hotspot.
