Another night of south winds and nocturnal migration. Here’s the radar loop from sunset last night through 6:00am this morning (frames = 1/hour). There’s a little radar interference mixed in (the ray-like signals), but you can still make out the majority of the signal. If you look closely, the area over the Delaware river is not all migration. If you look at the velocity, this area is not represented by a south –> north movement. Only the areas represented by south –> north movement on the velocity are actually birds. The areas with null velocity values are anomalous propagation. Since no weather was present to bring birds down, birds will be dispersed across the landscape. Best bets would be known Spring migrant traps.
