Last night’s radar showed both birds and weather, but was it enough of either to make a big showing?
Here’s the radar from sunset last night through sunrise this morning. Birds are seen lifting off after sunset and moving north overnight, although the frontal boundary stretching across New Jersey appears to have restricted them to the east, which could lend itself to higher concentrations at both our inland (Garret Mt.) and coastal (Sandy Hook, Cape May) migrant traps. Did it cause a fallout? I’d be a little surprised since the precip wasn’t heavy enough to “shut down” migration at any one point in time…but I’d be happy to be wrong!
