Exodus over Jersey

Moderate to heavy migration over the Garden State, but replacement was minimal (see post from last night for details). The radar covers the period between sunset last night and sunrise this morning.

  1. Well, it does seem as if birds made it into Central Jersey last night. I definitely saw more PRAIRIE WARBLERS today, and whereas yesterday saw the first COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, today they were everywhere. Also a FOS GRAY CATBIRD (could that be right!?) WOOD THRUSH, and BLUE-WINGED WARBLER in the exact same place one was last year. House Wren numbers appear to be up as well.

    Good Birding

  2. Yes, Gray Catbirds at Assunpink today 4/27. Also Yellow Warblers and CommonYellow throats everywhere. Plus Blue Winged and Black Throated Blue (could THAT be right?) Some kind of vireo (drab, tiny, large bill). And a RoseBreasted Grosbeak. I think I heard one b&W here in East Windsor. Woo-hoo and I was just out for a peak.
