Sandra Keller, Jerseybirder extraordinaire, recently posted a message to the Jerseybirds listserve about her preferred online weather tools. I thought I’d share one of mine.
First off, I use the NOAA 7-day forecast for Somerset, NJ (you can enter your own zipcode to get the local forecast)

I then click on the hourly weather graph tab:

and view the winds forecast on a much finer resolution. This allows me to tell when winds are predicted to be optimal for migration, although it only gives the winds at the surface, so to get a better overall idea of the wind profile I also use the Upper Air plots at the NCAR website (where I also check the radar).
