Well, we’re deep into migration now. Last night the air chilled a little bit more, and another wave of birds made their way across our fair state. Here’s the radar from sunset last night through sunrise this morning. Most of the activity seemed to originate in New Jersey, with a much smaller push entering from New York and other points north, suggesting that birds will not be concentrated save for the regular fall migrant hotspots. Winds will take on a more southerly flow today and are forecast to persist through the weekend…while that means birds will probably remain stationary until the winds become more cooperative, it also means a ‘build-up’ of birds which will increase our chances of a large event later next week (the ‘glass is half full’ approach).
