Another big migration event is occurring tonight…but I’m sleeping in the streets of NYC waiting for the Mets to make it to the division championship…see you midweek!

David great day at Overpeck County park 65 species including 15 species of Warblers great diversity plus good numbers of individual Birds. Good Birding Kevin Bolton.
Dave
Sorry about the Mets! Bummer!
Sandy Hook very different from yesterday.Diversity way down. Only tallied 10sp.warbler today. Both kinglets were very abundant as were Brown Creeper,RB Nuthatches and No.Flickers. Good numbers of Phoebes,a couple of Purple Finches, some Dark-Eyed Juncos, Swamp Sparrow, winter wren, flyover Common Loon(2). The majority of bird activity today was across the street from the garden around the officer quarters.
Duke Farms this morning was largely dead.
Parsons Rd. in Hampton twp (Sussex County) was very nice this evening though. Amy and I had big flocks of Palm and Yellow Rumped Warblers, many white throated sparrows, and a single group of 30+ purple finch. Plus a scarlet tanager, Lincoln’s sparrow, pheobe, and a few others. Not much diversity, but migration was clearly evident. Besides we missed the morning flight and I do not think this site produces particularly strongly for most neotrops in the evening.
good birding,
Brian
Cape May Point was super. Good numbers of FLICKERS, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, BLACKPOLLS, PARULAS, and all 6 THRUSHES flying – with SWAINSON’S being the predominant. I birded the State Park from an hour before dawn until say 10:00AM. Diversity of birds was still high with 14 warbler species. Both KINGLETS flying. Good RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH numbers, BLUE JAYS, etc.
Sorry about the Mets, David, but at least the Phillies took advantage of it!
Celery Farm 9/30: Highlights first confirmed CLAY-COLORED SPARROW for the site (species # 250!), my first BLUE GROSBEAK for the site (about the 5th record overall), adult male Purple Finch, Sc Tanager, Ind Bunting (4+), BT Green, Maggie, Nashbille, Lincoln’s, etc
Great day!
