The low pressure system spinning over our region brought with it southwesterly winds, and kept bird migration to a minimum over night. Here’s the radar from sunset last night through 5:00am this morning.
Frames are every 1/2 hour for reflectivity and velocity, and every hour for the regional composite. Click on the thumbnail to view the full-sized animation.
The radar shows heavy migration immediately after sunset, followed by a rapid shutdown as winds and thunderstorms move into the region from the west. Given little to no influx of new birds, only those areas where local birds had been moving into when the weather shifted will show any significant increase in bird density this morning.
