No migration over the mid-Atlantic

It was a slow night, as the winds turned southerly on the eve of the next approaching cold front. Here’s the radar from 7:00pm last night through 5:00am this morning.

Winds over the Northeast and mid-Atlantic were southerly for most of last night, as an approaching cold front marched across the Ohio Valley yesterday. The velocity shows the wind turning from south to west by this morning, which is a good indication that the front is making its way into the region as I type this post.

Expect this wind shift to continue today, eventually turning northwesterly by this evening and triggering heavy migration into the mid-Atlantic region tonight. As for birding conditions today, expect little change from yesterday with the addition of a good raptor flight into NJ as well as along the coast.

Good Birding

David
