Winds aloft last night were out of the northeast, giving migrants just enough impetus to head south. Here’s the radar from 6:00pm last night through 6:00am this morning.

The regional composite really shows the movement quite well, with the reflectivity signal appearing to move southwest along the eastern seaboard from New England down into the Delmarva Peninsula. The local radars corroborate the spectacle, with all images showing nocturnal migration throughout the night, and all velocity images suggesting targets moving faster than the prevailing winds. The trajectory of most targets was from NE->SW, so expect inland locations to be best this morning. Sparrow fields in the interior part of NJ will be good today, as will sites along the Delaware River, and the north shore of the Delaware Bay.
Good Birding!
