Dribs and drabs

Well, it looks like the foul weather moved in before birds could get moving last night. There was a little pulse of migration evident north of the frontal boundary, but other than that, it was pretty slim. Here’s the radar from 7:00pm last night through 5:30 am this morning.

The regional composite does show some migration over New Jersey and New York last night, indicating a net loss of birds for the mid-Atlantic region (and especially New Jersey. Weather to the south has limited any influx into the region. The next couple of nights will have favorable winds, but heavy precipitation (at least tonight) so I’m not expecting much through the end of the week. By Wednesday high pressure will build in, which should mean NW winds. The next front approaches at the end of the week and we should see winds turn southerly again, increasing the probability of our next flight.

Good Birding
