Northerly flow over NJ last night appears to have kept most migrants on the ground with only a light movement evident on the Fort DIX radar and the only heavier migration over extreme southwest near the mouth of the Delaware River. Still, migration was evident elsewhere; over NY State, PA, and especially over the western Delmarva Peninsula. Here’s the radar from sunset last night through 5:00am this morning.

Not much to say today except that the national composite pretty much sums up the title of this post. While conditions are shaping up for several nights of heavy migration from Mexico to the Great Lakes, we won’t be seeing any big flights over NJ until the winds turn southerly again on Saturday night. In the meantime local movements of the birds which arrived on the last three nights will make for some good birding throughout the region.
Good Birding
