With the exception of the northeast coast, conditions for migration have all but deteriorated. This was evident last night where migration was only visible from coastal Maine to Long Island, NY with only a small number of birds moving over northern NJ. Here’s the radar from 7:30pm last night through 5:00am this morning. Note that the NYC radar was down from midnight on, so the loop is considerably shorter than the rest.

Southerly flow associated with the approaching cold front has pretty much shut down any significant migration for the mid-Atlantic. Right now the weather models don’t show anything positive for migration until the middle of next week, although there appears to be a lot of model uncertainty so we’ll need to keep an eye on it as the models begin to converge.
Good Birding
