Last night the northern mid-Atlantic saw winds shift from northwesterly to northeasterly, while the southern part of the region was under easterly flow the entire night. As the latest cold front pushed it’s way offshore yesterday, high pressure built in over the Northeast and mid-Atlantic with steady northerly winds. Surface winds were calm last night, while the winds aloft were light southeasterly, providing less-than-optimal migration conditions. Still, a small number of birds appear to have moved overnight, although the majority of the signal on the radar appears to be something other than birds.
