  • Migration over Jerze

Here’s the radar from sunset last night through sunrise this morning. It’s a bit cluttered due to light southerly winds and an overnight temperature inversion (causing anomalous propagation), but you can still make out some nocturnal migration regardless. See my post from last night for more details. Good Birding

  • Migration in progress

Much of what is on there is anomalous propagation (probably due to the warm day followed by a clear, cool night), although there is some N –> S movement evident on the velocity image. The migration looks better in South Jersey and points south of […]

  • BIG migration over New Jersey

Wow! Big migration over New Jersey last night, with moderate migration over the Northeast. This was clearly the biggest push of birds over the Garden State this Fall, but what it will mean for birding conditions is still unclear since fewer birds were moving over the points north of us. Given the local density though, […]

  • Migration and weather

[…]

  • Migration – YES; Radar – NO

Hmmm….well, unfortunately these long weekends usually spell disaster for the radar feed, since the server tends to fill up and there’s no one around until Tuesday to fix the problem. I did check the NCAR site though, and it looks like there was some migration over the Northeast last night. A frontal boundary stalled across […]
